Many health and performance issues develop within the home and workplace which are directly linked to environmental factors. These factors can work independently or in tandem (symbiotic) to create an environment which can have serious and adverse health effects on the building visitors or occupants.Typical alerts would be illness or allergies, condensation or mould, odour.

Typical factors include:

·         Allergies

·         Sore eyes

·         Flu like symptoms

·         Depression

·         Lack of performance or concentration

·         Absenteeism

·         Nose bleeds and sinus problems

·         Development of some forms of cancer possible

Problem identification

The development of these issues can often be traced to a combination of environmental factors which include:

·         Temperature

·         Humidity

·         Air exchanges or ventilation

·         Mould growth from viable spores

·         Toxins produced from non viable spores

·         Pollen

·         Dust mite

·         Cockroach and various faeces

·         CO² Carbon dioxide levels, volatile organic chemicals

·         Dander

·         Household products

·         Living or operational style

Water damage is often a key marker

Where water is uncontrolled in any of its forms from leaks to condensation or humididty its presence is so often a pre cursor to indoor environmental health concerns. Air and surface sampling in conjunction with surveys such as ultrasonic or infra red thermography can often detect the  areas of concern and lead to control or repair.

Investigation

Two forms of investigation are possible and these are as follows:

Planned monitoring program

This revolves around the contracted data loggers which continuously record site conditions and assess the potential for health problems and is in effect a proactive defence or alert system.

Dynamic Inspections

This inspection is called for when problems have arisen and solutions are required.

Building Forensics

We provide detailed forensic non and intrusive investigation into building envelope and indoor air quality.
