A-Zone: A designation by FEMA for the Flood Insurance Rate maps to designate zones for the portions of the 100-year floodplain. An A-Zone is subject to water and wave velocity action of less than three feet in height . An A-Zone is also referred to as a Special Flood Hazard Area.
