Disaster recovery and restoration can be veiled in mystery to the many who have not undertaken specific training. This glossary explains technical terms to assist both report writing and the understanding of those technical terms so often misunderstood.

Definition
Assessor: Usually appointed by the insured and works on a commission basis
Quiescent: A state of inaction, quiet, static and complete stillness. Education Note: Sometimes environmental assessors and industrial hygienists will air sample interiors of buildings using quiescent means for determining static loads of chemicals, vapors, toxins and bioaerosols in relatively still air.
Risk-Based Assessments: One or more site assessments and surveys that must be conducted before for the industrial hygienist, site assessor or risk manager is able to establish a working knowledge of the known or potential hazards of a property.
