Disaster recovery and restoration can be veiled in mystery to the many who have not undertaken specific training. This glossary explains technical terms to assist both report writing and the understanding of those technical terms so often misunderstood.
Definition
| Built-In Components: |
Permanent built-in finished cabinetry, including but not limited to: counters, shelves, desks, drawers, pantries, storage closets, hutches and bay-window seats. Mitigation Note: Built-in finished components are usually not effected by most water damages, since inspection and dehumidification drying, if necessary, can be conducted through the removal of the toe-kick, core drilling into the toe-kick, or drilling behind the base molding. If the built-in component is attached to an interior wall, drying the underside of the built-in can be completed by drilling air and dehumidification holes from the opposite wall, behind the frame work of built-in component.
