Zero Contamination

The ability of a material to be completely sterile from organisms and/or VOCs. Mitigation Note%u003A In the mitigation of flooded buildings%u002C zero contamination or zero risk cannot exist. a%u0029 Once buildings or surfaces have been decontaminated%u002C acceptable risk extends to the removal of harmful pollutants and repair of damaged building materials. b%u0029 Some contamination risks require the replacement of damaged building materials and carpet with new materials%u002C because of unacceptable levels of risk and increased liability.

 

Zone

In hazardous materials management%u002C it is the restriction of certain areas as zones which certain tasks are to be preformed. Mitigation Note%u003A In hazardous environments mitigation%u002C there will be a restriction zone%u002C an egress zone%u002C a safety zone%u002C a contamination zone and a hot zone.
